British government banned Afghanistani women from UK universities

The Taliban are not the only enemies of women who prevent them from education. British government banned  female students from Afghanistan from attending universities in the UK as well. See below what Carrie Patsalis says and sign her petition . The number of these students who can enter UK higher institutions can be counted on the fingers of one hand; there are not many, and yet the UK government shockingly decides to restrict them from the opportunities that they don't have under the Taliban de facto regime. If it is true that annually around 40,000 Pakistani students are given visas to come to the UK and study there, and eventually around 5,000 of them apply for asylum, why can't the UK issue visas for a few Afghanistani female students to come to the UK to study?

On University Admissions Quota and Open Letter to Obama

A couple of years ago, I wrote a blog post about an open letter that was written by Pashtun intellectuals. A couple of the writers are currently working for Ashraf Ghani administration as advisors and heads of critical government apparatus. The letter was composed in 2010 and was sent to President Obama and many major news outlets in the United States. After several years, today, I happened to see that letter again which I received from a reader and posted on blogpost . Later on, I heard from a retired US diplomat who happened to receive it through email listserv from the State Department. You can get a sense of Pashton paranoia as well as what is happening right now in Kabul; and why Pashtuns around Ashraf Ghani are pushing other minorities aside and creating quota for university admissions. Here is the link to the letter: https://...

Sultana's Story And Her Educational Aspiration

If you haven't yet read  this week's incredible about Sultana on the New York Time , a young girl living in southern Afghanistan who dreams to study in the United States, I highly recommend to read it. Sultana is definitely in of some attention for her future. If you want to donate money towards her education, there is a page made for her in which money goes directly into her account. Sultana at her desk, photo already published on  the NYT . Like Sultana, there are thousands of girls in areas under the Taliban control who can't go to school. It is unfortunate that Sultana and girls like her are forbidden to go to school, but there is always an incorrect perception that deludes our understanding of the nature of south, where Sultana comes from. ( It is not known where exactly she comes from. The impression that I have from the photos that she has provided to her supporters is that she lives in city). Most of often people think that the Taliban are foreigners, the...
